Thanksgiving can have a different meaning for different people. For some, it is about being able to spend time with loved ones or old friends you don't get to see often. Others are all about the full table spread of food and a comfy couch to watch some football. Or you could be the bargain shopper getting your list ready to tackle your holiday shopping on Black Friday. For us, and especially this year, Thanksgiving has a much different meaning.
Thanksgiving is the first real break after our busy season that allows us to take our foot off the gas and take a breather. This break will allow us to reflect on this past year and think about everything that occurred. For us, 2020 was a wild year. It went from a normal start to the year, followed by a big screeching halt of the unknown. With many of our retailers closed or operating on limited business hours because of Covid, we weren't sure what to do. Orders were being canceled left and right, and the tension was growing more each day. Luckily being stuck indoors for many days or weeks resulted in an enormous get-outdoors effect, and people regained or created their love for paddlesports and fishing. Business went from a typical winter season for our production team all the way to about a 12 pack of Red Bull at the drop of a hat. We found ourselves behind the ball, trying to manufacture and assemble as much as possible.
We are thankful for many things this year, but most importantly, we are thankful for the community of paddlers and anglers who continued to support the brand and use our products. We are thankful for our dealer network of hardworking, dedicated entrepreneurs who were patient with us throughout the season while we attempted to reinforce the floodgates. We are thankful for all of those who supported us this year and allowed us to build on our weaknesses while we laid the foundation for a more substantial business for the future.
