Delaware Paddlesports first opened its doors in December of 2010 in Lewes, a beautiful beach community in southern tax free Delaware. Their first shop was a tiny 170 square foot space stocked full of Jackson Kayaks, Werner Paddles and YakAttack products. As that first year progressed, they brought on Native Watercraft, Old Town, Ocean Kayak, Necky and a few paddle board lines as well.
Through 2011-2013, the Delaware Paddlesports team watched as kayak fishing exploded, and the company continued its own growth along with the phenomenon. In 2013, they began hosting Delaware Paddlesports Kayak Fishing tournaments in local salt and fresh waters. These events were a lot of fun and became a great avenue for local kayak anglers to enjoy and grow the sport of Kayak Fishing.
As the company grew, so did the team. They hired their shop manager and local kayak angler, Chris Erby, in March of 2013. Chris quickly became a huge asset to the team and a customer favorite due to his knowledge and wonderful customer service. They also hired local fisherman Alan Rosenberger in 2013. Alan does a great job with customer service as well as kayak rigging. The entire Delaware Paddlesports team is comprised of paddlers and anglers, and they love to help new people get into the sport.
In 2014, they needed more space to grow, and in December of 2014 moved to their current location, about 2 miles north of the original one. With the move came 10 times more space, allowing them to add Hobie, Hurricane, and Wilderness Systems kayaks this past year. Thanks to a great staff and loyal customers, Delaware Paddlesports now ships kayaks and accessories countrywide, while striving to provide the best customer service they possibly can. They take great pride and pleasure in carrying as many American Made products as they can, including YakAttack, and appreciates the support and service of so many great American paddle sport brands. Delaware Paddlesports just celebrated its 5 year anniversary and the team looks forward to seeing what is in store for kayak fishing in the future!
