We wanted to give this as much time as possible, hoping there would have been a different outcome, but as January comes to an end, it is time to make the call. If you had asked us after the tournament last year if the event would happen like usual in 2021, we would have given you a fairly high probability. We wanted to make the decision early rather than repeat last year and allow everyone to cancel their travel arrangements, lodging, or time off work. This year, we have decided to cancel the in-person event and move it online for 2021. With the current regulations on gatherings and events in Virginia, there would be no way we would be able to host an event that resembles anything close to the annual festivities. Believe us when we say this, we miss the event as much as everyone and would love to have the standard gathering and fun, but we will have to wait another year to resume normality.
The tournament will take place on May 15th and will be online and hosted through TourneyX. We are still working on the chances of doing a multi-species slam with bass, crappie, and bluegill divisions, so those details will have to wait till later. If we cannot do multiple divisions, the tournament will be bass only with a three fish limit and a big bass award. The entry fee will be $30 and is open to the entire USA. Registration will take place on the event page on the TourneyX website and will be open from April 1st to May 8th with no limits on the number of anglers that can participate. If we have a bass-only event, the prizes will be as follows. Bass Division (3 fish limit) 1st place: Trophy and a $500 YakAttack gift certificate, 2nd place: $250 YakAttack gift certificate, 3rd place $100 YakAttack gift certificate. We will post frequent updates with details on the multi-species/bass decision, as well as a link to registration. Funds raised will be donated to Heroes on the Water and Project Healing Waters.
